Fayetteville Public Schools Child Nutrition will offer free meal packs during the winter break, which is from December 21 through January 1. The five-day meal packs (five breakfasts and five lunches) will be available for pick up on Tuesday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 29. Fayetteville Public Schools will pivot to virtual learning on Monday, December 14 due to inclement weather and road conditions. All school buildings will be closed, and students will utilize online learning.
The Fayetteville High School Student Council will hold the 22nd annual Homeless Vigil on Thursday, December 3, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the FHS campus along Bulldog Blvd. The vigil will raise funds for the Families in Transition Program, a Fayetteville Public Schools program that helps students in need and their families across the school district.

Each Asbell Elementary School student took home a free turkey Friday, November 20th, courtesy of a partnership with the Fayetteville Public Library and their "Books & Bites" program. This is the 5th year of the program at Asbell. Many thanks to our great friends at the Fayetteville Public Library!

Your Feel Good Moment of the Week comes from Washington Elementary School assistant principal Ruth Mobley. Ms. Mobley stood at the corner of Lafayette and College holding a "Honk if you love Washington" sign from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday. She agreed to do this if Washington students met their goal for their food drive and Socktober event. Five hundred boxes of mac and cheese were collected for the district food pantry and 200 pairs of socks for the Seven Hills Day Center. Thank you, Ms. Mobley!!
Special thanks to Nabholz Corporation and to the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation for the in-kind gift of $20,000 of industry-standard tools to further develop and augment the Skilled Trades curriculum at Fayetteville High School! Through their generosity, the curriculum will train students interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades while still in high school, particularly plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and general construction. Successful completion of this program would ideally result in a student earning multiple industry-recognized certifications that will enhance future employment opportunities.
Great things are happening every day in our schools, especially in 2020!
